Taiyuan Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd. has developed a series of advanced oil film bearings, including the ZYC1065-75WJ, ZYC1065-75WJJ, and ZYC985-75WJ models, specifically designed for high-strength continuous Casting and rolling mills. These innovations were applied in the Shougang 3500 plate mill, marking a significant step forward in China's steel production technology. Recently, the company also introduced the ZYC1500-75WJ oil film bearing, which underwent a scientific and technological achievement evaluation in Benxi City, Liaoning Province.
During the appraisal, experts listened carefully to the project team’s presentation and recognized the importance of the two projects in advancing the theoretical research, structural innovation, and manufacturing standards of oil film bearings. The breakthroughs in design and performance have not only improved technical parameters but also surpassed similar foreign products, breaking the long-standing monopoly by international manufacturers. This development paves the way for the full localization of cold and hot rolling mill equipment in China.
For the Shougang 3500mm plate mill, the oil film bearings were specially designed with a keyless structure, double thrust full symmetry, and a hydraulic quick-locking mechanism. Additional features such as an improved foot seal and on-line temperature monitoring significantly enhance the bearing’s stability, sealing performance, and ease of maintenance. These improvements ensure reliable operation under heavy loads, making them highly suitable for demanding industrial environments.
The experts who participated in the evaluation praised the independent intellectual property rights of the two projects and noted that their overall technical level has reached an international leading standard. Industry representatives and steel mill officials encouraged further promotion of this technology, believing it will play a crucial role in enhancing China’s heavy machinery industry.
The event was organized by the Science and Technology Department of Shanxi Province, with participation from experts and representatives of major institutions, including the China Heavy Machinery Industry Association, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Taiyuan University of Science and Technology, Taiyuan University of Technology, Anshan Iron & Steel, Benxi Steel, Shougang, Wuhan Iron & Steel, Tiangang, and Taigang. The identification meeting served as an important platform for knowledge exchange and technological advancement in the field.
