Two of China's most advanced 2 MW wind power increasing gearboxes, developed under the leadership of Chongqing Nantong Haolian Industrial Co., Ltd., have recently been completed and delivered to customers. This marks another significant milestone in the company’s new product development, filling a critical gap in the domestic market for high-performance wind turbine components.
Chongqing Gearbox Co., Ltd., a large-scale military enterprise under China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, specializes in manufacturing gearboxes, couplings, and shock absorbers. The company has been at the forefront of wind energy innovation since 1997 when it became part of the national “600 kW wind turbine gearbox and transmission system†project. In October 1998, it successfully developed the first batch of 600 kW wind power increasing gearboxes, marking a breakthrough in domestic wind turbine technology.
The FL600 wind power-increasing gearbox from Heavy Gear Co. was awarded the National Torch Program Project Certificate in April 1999 and was later recognized as a substitute for imported products by the state in October 2001. Today, these gearboxes are widely used across various regions in China, including North, East, South, Northeast, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia. Some units have operated safely for nearly eight years, proving their reliability and performance.
In 2004, the company further expanded its product range by developing 750 kW and 1000 kW wind power transmission gearboxes. That same year, two 600 kW gearboxes were exported to Germany, opening the door for the company to enter the global wind equipment market. Currently, Chongqing Heavy Tooth is capable of producing gearboxes ranging from 1000 kW to 2500 kW, with successful mass production of 600 kW, 750 kW, 800 kW, 1000 kW, 1500 kW, and 2000 kW wind turbines.
To better meet market demands and enhance professional capabilities in wind power generation, Chongqing Heavy Tooth established Chongqing Heavy Tooth Wind Power Gearbox Co., Ltd. in May 2005. During the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, the company focused on improving R&D and manufacturing technologies for wind turbine gearboxes. It aims to produce over 300 units annually for 1.5 MW and 2 MW products, ensuring strong support for China's growing wind energy industry.
