Two of China’s most advanced 2 MW wind power-increasing gearboxes, developed under the leadership of Chongqing Nantong Haolian Industrial Co., Ltd., have recently been completed and delivered to clients. This marks a significant milestone in the company's new product development, filling a critical gap in the domestic market for such high-performance components.
Chongqing Gearbox Co., Ltd., a large-scale military enterprise under China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, specializes in manufacturing gearboxes, couplings, and shock absorbers. Since 1997, it has played a key role in the national "600 kW Wind Turbine Gearbox and Transmission System" project. In October 1998, the company successfully developed the first batch of 600 kW wind power-increasing gearboxes, which filled a major void in the domestic wind turbine industry.
The FL600 wind power-increasing gearbox was awarded the National Torch Program Project Certificate in April 1999 and was officially recognized as a substitute for imported products in October 2001. These gearboxes have since been deployed across multiple regions in China, including North, East, South, Northeast, Xinjiang, and Inner Mongolia. Some units have operated safely for nearly eight years, demonstrating their reliability and performance.
In 2004, the company further expanded its product line by successfully developing 750 kW and 1000 kW wind power transmission gearboxes. Additionally, in August 2004, two 600 kW gearboxes were exported to Germany, marking an important step toward international recognition. Today, Chongqing Heavy Tooth Company offers a wide range of wind turbine speed-increasing gearboxes, from 1000 kW up to 2500 kW, and has achieved mass production for models ranging from 600 kW to 2000 kW.
To better meet market demands and enhance its specialization in wind power technology, Chongqing Gearbox established Chongqing Heavy Tooth Wind Power Gearbox Co., Ltd. in May 2005. Under the guidance of the National Development and Reform Commission, the company plans to significantly improve its R&D and manufacturing capabilities during the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan†period. It aims to produce over 300 units annually for 1.5 MW and 2 MW wind turbine gearboxes, further solidifying its position in both domestic and global markets.
