From May 11th to 12th, the National Bureau of Tobacco held a prototype evaluation meeting in Wuhan, Hubei, focusing on the ZJ112 coiling unit and the ZB47 packaging unit. Following extensive and detailed discussions, the appraisal committee unanimously agreed that both prototypes demonstrated stable operation, excellent performance, strong adaptability, ease of operation and maintenance, accurate and reliable control systems, and comprehensive safety features. The units operate at high speed with high reliability and are highly automated. Their main technical performance indicators have reached international advanced levels, making them suitable for promotion within the tobacco industry.
Li Keming, Deputy Director of the National Bureau, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He emphasized that the successful acceptance of the ZJ112 and ZB47 prototypes marked a historic breakthrough in the domestic digestion and absorption of coiling equipment, signaling a new phase in development. During the development process, several key characteristics emerged: first, the selection of these two models was scientifically sound and aligned with market demands, showing foresight; second, the project balanced transformation and application, achieving both absorption and innovation; third, the successful development of these units provided valuable experience in building an innovation system for the tobacco industry and promoting technological advancement.
Looking ahead, Li Keming called for continuous improvement in the quality of both units. He also stressed the importance of collaboration between cigarette manufacturing enterprises and tobacco machinery companies to drive independent innovation and accelerate the shift toward a more sustainable growth model. He outlined three key areas for progress: technological transformation, equipment management, and the establishment of a new supply chain relationship. In terms of technology, he highlighted the need for innovation in silk-making equipment to build unique product features and core technologies. Intellectual property protection was also emphasized. Regarding equipment management, he pointed out the need to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and lower operating costs through better procurement and certification processes. Finally, he encouraged the development of a stronger supply chain to enhance overall competitiveness.
Wang Chongguang, General Manager of China Tobacco Machinery Group Co., Ltd., noted that the successful development of the ZJ112 and ZB47 units offers a new option for the technical upgrading of cigarette processing enterprises during the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period. It lays a solid foundation for the future development of China's tobacco industry. The achievement fills a gap in domestic high-speed coiling technology and marks another milestone in the evolution of domestic tobacco equipment. The Chinese tobacco industry will use this opportunity to advance to higher levels of development and innovation.
