On Thursday, July 12, 2018, the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District and automatic aid companies responded to a fire at 600 Knightsbridge Parkway. Upon arrival, firefighters noticed heavy smoke coming from a trash compactor, prompting them to escalate the call to a working fire. Multiple units were dispatched to the scene, including crews from Countryside FPD and the Mundelein Fire Department. The incident drew attention from local media, with several photographers capturing the efforts of emergency responders as they worked to contain the blaze. Despite the challenging conditions, crews managed to bring the fire under control without any reported injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
