The first fire of the year classified as a 3-11 Alarm occurred on Monday night (January 8, 2018), as Chicago firefighters responded to a large mattress warehouse fire at 4041 S. Emerald Avenue. The structure, measuring 150 by 800 feet, was fully engulfed in flames, prompting a major response from the Chicago Fire Department.
Three tower ladders and Squad 1A were deployed, with elevated master streams used to control the spread of the fire. Firefighters worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. The scene was filled with activity as crews coordinated efforts to bring the situation under control.
