4th Alarm house fire in Wadsworth 4-30-13 (pt 2)

Scott Peterson was on scene at the 4th Alarm fire in Newport Township on Monday in Wadsworth, and has shared a collection of images that will be featured across several posts. On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, the Newport Fire Department received reports of a fire at 14541 Juniper Court. Upon arrival, crews found a heavy volume of fire coming from both the roof and interior of the home. The Zion ladder truck arrived quickly and was immediately deployed for water tower operations. At first, only one portable tank was available, with most of the water being directed to the Zion unit. As the situation escalated, the alarm was quickly upgraded from a second alarm to a fourth alarm, bringing in numerous engine and tender companies from MABAS Divisions 4 and 101 (including Kenosha County, WI). Twin Lakes FD, located the farthest away, also responded. Eventually, three portable tanks were set up in series, providing a steady and uninterrupted flow of water. Despite the intense fire conditions upon arrival, the crews handled the situation effectively, managing to bring the fire under control. One photo shows the complete collapse of a large section of the second floor through the C division window above the back deck.
