More photos from the 5-11 Club/Fire Buffs of Illinois muster this weekend at the Quinn Fire Academy. The event brought together firefighters, enthusiasts, and members of the public for a day of training, camaraderie, and showcasing historic and modern fire apparatus.
Among the highlights was the MABAS Mobile Ventilation Unit, a vital piece of equipment used in modern firefighting operations. Also on display was a Chicago Fire Department (CFD) training academy engine, which is often used for hands-on training sessions. Another standout was the CFD hi-X foam unit, designed for tackling high-hazard fires with specialized extinguishing agents.
A vintage Chicago Fire Department fire truck stood out as well, offering a glimpse into the past. Alongside it was an antique fire engine, capturing the attention of many visitors. A classic American LaFrance Century Series fire engine, known as the X-Hillside model, was also featured, along with a Berkeley E-ONE engine that has seen years of service.
Other notable vehicles included a Bensenville tower ladder, an Evergreen Park Fire Department light wagon, and a Pierce mini pumper. Several CFD units were also on hand, some lettered and striped specifically for television production, giving them a unique look. A C-Model Mack fire engine rounded out the collection, showing the evolution of fire apparatus over the decades.
These images provide a great visual representation of the rich history and ongoing commitment of fire departments across Illinois.
