Working fire in Stone Park, 12-1-16

The Stone Park Fire Department responded to a basement fire at 1538 N. 40th Avenue this morning on December 1, 2016. The incident involved a two-story, vacant single-family home, and firefighters were called in for a working fire response. Two hose lines were deployed to control the blaze, which was quickly brought under control. Mutual aid units from neighboring departments assisted in the response, including a Leyden truck, a Bensenville squad and battalion chief, a Berkeley engine, a Northlake truck, and an ambulance from Melrose Park. Additional support came from an ambulance based in River Forest and an engine from Norwood Park, which were assigned as change-of-quarters companies. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The scene showed significant damage, particularly in the basement area, with firefighters working diligently to ensure the fire was fully extinguished and the structure was secured.
