Buffalo Grove Firefighter/Paramedic John Kevin Hauber; January 6, 1967 – January 27, 2018

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Firefighter/Paramedic Kevin Hauber, a dedicated member of Buffalo Grove Professional Firefighters and Paramedics Local 3177. After a long battle with cancer, Kevin left us on January 27, 2018, surrounded by his loving family—his wife and four daughters. Kevin was a 23-year veteran of the Buffalo Grove Fire Department, known for his unwavering commitment to serving his community. He was not only a firefighter but also a paramedic, always putting others before himself. His passion for protecting and serving was something he carried from his childhood, inspired by the show *Emergency!*, which he and his twin brother Jim watched growing up. In 2014, during his chemotherapy treatments, Kevin had the chance to meet Randy Mantooth, one of the stars of *Emergency!*. It was a moment he cherished deeply, as he shared how the show had shaped his dream of becoming a firefighter. Mantooth even signed a photo of them as kids, a memory that brought him joy in his final days. Kevin was also a proud member of the Associated Firefighters of Illinois (AFFI) Honor Guard since 2004. He believed strongly in honoring fallen firefighters and was always available to support his brothers and sisters in uniform. In 2018, he was honored with the Donald J. Bower Commitment to Excellence Award for his outstanding service to the Honor Guard. The funeral arrangements are as follows: **Wake:** Thursday, February 1, 2018 Glueckert Funeral Home 1520 N.
