German Bosch Group accelerates expansion in the Chinese market

On May 18th, the German Bosch Group announced a significant investment of 60 million euros into the construction of new auto parts manufacturing facilities in Changsha. This marks the company’s largest investment project in Central China to date and reflects its growing confidence in the region's potential. Kong Lude, a director at Bosch Group and head of Asia Pacific operations, emphasized that building this new factory is a key milestone in Bosch’s long-term strategy for China. “This investment underscores our commitment to supporting the local automotive industry and aligning with China’s development goals,” he said. The new facility, located in the Xingsha High-Tech Industrial Park, will serve as the primary production hub for Bosch’s Energy and Body Systems Division in China. With a total area exceeding 210,000 square meters—of which 100,000 are already operational—the plant will focus on producing critical components for automotive power systems, including starters, alternators, body electronics control units, electromechanical drives, and wiper systems. It will also provide a full range of rotating power equipment. Just a day later, on May 19th, Bosch’s automotive electronics division revealed plans to invest an additional 100 million euros in expanding its Suzhou plant, further solidifying its presence in the region. Kong Lude highlighted that these projects reflect Bosch’s strong dedication to China’s growth and its alignment with national initiatives like the 11th Five-Year Plan. “We aim to bring the most advanced technologies and production experiences to China through continuous investment and localization,” he stated. “This not only enhances China’s global competitiveness but also supports environmental protection and energy efficiency.” Bosch’s investment in China has been accelerating rapidly. As of now, the company has invested over 620 million euros in the country, with another 620 million euros planned for the period between 2006 and 2008. As one of the world’s leading suppliers of automotive components, Bosch operates 14 companies, six joint ventures, and six trading companies in China through Bosch (China) Investment Co., Ltd. The company continues to expand its footprint, driven by a deep understanding of the Chinese market and a long-term vision for sustainable growth.
