The Aksu Huajin Fertilizer Plant, part of the Liaoning Huajin Group, has successfully launched its large-scale chemical fertilizer production facility. The plant produced high-quality urea products on its first day of operation, meeting all national standards for superior-grade products. This milestone marks the end of southern Xinjiang's long-standing lack of a major chemical fertilizer production base.
Located in Kuche County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang, the plant has an annual capacity of 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia and 520,000 tons of urea. Construction began on August 18, 2003, with groundbreaking on February 25, 2004. The project utilized advanced synthetic ammonia and urea production equipment previously donated by Guangzhou Petrochemical to the Xinjiang region. Additionally, it incorporated unused equipment from the Liaoning Huajin Group’s Liaohe Chemical Fertilizer Plant after the coal gas conversion process.
The construction was carried out by four leading companies: China Chemical Engineering Ninth Construction Company, Sinopec Fourth Construction Company, Xinjiang Construction Engineering Group Sixth Construction Company, and Wutie Bureau Construction Company. Over the two-year construction period, workers faced numerous challenges, including harsh desert conditions, homesickness, and the logistical difficulties of relocating heavy machinery from Guangzhou and Liaoning. Despite these obstacles, the team successfully completed the project and launched the plant, marking a significant achievement for the region’s agricultural and industrial development.
