The technical team at the Shuguang Refinery Technology Research Institute of Liaohe Oilfield Company has made significant progress in improving the performance of a small pump, often referred to as the "old heart" of oil extraction. This breakthrough has greatly enhanced the pump's ability to draw liquid from deep wells, effectively boosting their productivity. As of June 20, the implementation of this improved technology in 34 wells has resulted in the recovery of 3,658 tons of crude oil.
To further improve the efficiency of deep well production, the research team at the Shuguang Refinery started working on technical upgrades for deep-pumping equipment with a 32 mm diameter pump in 2006. The main improvements focused on two key areas. First, they redesigned the pump structure by increasing the diameter from 32 mm to 38 mm, creating a long-stroke pump that significantly boosted pumping capacity and overall efficiency. Second, they addressed the issue of severe wear on the sucker rods, which had been a persistent problem in many oil wells. By implementing a tube rotator system, they were able to reduce the extent of localized wear, leading to better performance and longer-lasting equipment. These efforts have not only improved operational efficiency but also contributed to more sustainable and cost-effective oil extraction processes.
