This is from Larry Shapiro:
On Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016, just after 7 p.m., Park Ridge firefighters were called to a house fire at 1205 Hoffman Avenue. The first units on scene reported heavy smoke coming from the attic of a single-family home and immediately launched an interior attack. About ten minutes later, the situation escalated, and the alarm was upgraded to a Code 4 as flames began to break through the roof. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, and mutual aid units that had not yet arrived were sent back to their stations.
No one was injured in the incident. The responding units included Park Ridge Engines 35 and 36, Ambulances 35 and 36, Rescue & Battalion 36, plus the 3500 unit. Additional help came from Niles Ambulance, Tower 2, North Maine Engine and Battalion 1, Glenview Engine 7, Lincolnwood Ambulance 15, and Rosemont Truck 158.
I arrived at the scene just as the fire was declared under control. It was a fast-moving incident, and the crews worked efficiently to contain it before it could spread further.
