This is a report from Larry Shapiro:
On Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016, just after 7 PM, Park Ridge firefighters were called to 1205 Hoffman Avenue in response to a reported house fire. The first units on the scene found heavy smoke coming from the attic of a single-family home and immediately began an interior attack. About ten minutes later, the situation escalated when flames broke through the roof, prompting the alarm to be upgraded to a Code 4 for a working fire. Firefighters quickly contained the blaze, and mutual aid companies that hadn't arrived yet were sent back to their stations.
No one was injured in the incident. At the scene were Park Ridge Engines 35 and 36, Ambulances 35 and 36, Rescue and Battalion 36, along with Engine 3500. Additional support came from Niles Ambulance, Tower 2, North Maine Engine and Battalion 1, Glenview Engine 7, Lincolnwood Ambulance 15, and Rosemont Truck 158.
When I arrived, the fire had already been declared under control. It was clear the crews worked efficiently and professionally to manage the situation with minimal damage and no casualties.
