From the New Lenox FPD Facebook page:
According to reports, two vehicles belonging to the New Lenox Fire Protection District (NLFPD) suffered significant damage on Sunday afternoon when a pickup truck exited Route 30 and collided with them on district property. The affected vehicles included a 2002 Chevy Suburban and a 2006 Ford Expedition, both of which were frequently used by the Fire and Life Safety Division.
The accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. at NLFPD’s Station 1, located at 261 E. Maple Street. One individual was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Fortunately, none of the firefighters sustained injuries during the incident.
“We’re incredibly grateful that no one was seriously hurt in this crash,†remarked Chief Steve Engledow. “Property can always be repaired or replaced.â€
While the structure of the building itself remains undamaged, there has been some impact on the surrounding landscaping and exterior lighting. Authorities are still investigating the exact cause of the collision.
Attached are several photos provided by the New Lenox FPD, offering a closer look at the aftermath of the event. The images clearly show the extent of the damage inflicted on the vehicles, as well as the general condition of the area following the crash.
