Daimler Detroit Engine Manufacturing Center Named "Energy Star"

Detroit Diesel announced on June 25 that the company's Redford engine manufacturing center in Michigan recently received the Energy Star Energy Star certificate from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The EPA's "Energy Star" challenge test requires automotive industry manufacturers to reduce energy intensity by 10% within five years. In addition. It also requires manufacturers to carry out relevant energy conservation projects, track the use of energy, and verify the effectiveness of energy conservation.

It is reported that the United States Detroit Diesel Engine Company has obtained this honorary certificate for two consecutive years, and the Radford Engine Manufacturing Center of the company reduced its energy intensity by 17% within one year.

In addition, the manufacturing center was awarded the "2010 Outstanding Achievement Award" for its outstanding performance in the "industrial sustainable energy project" conducted by DTE Energy and the Detroit Energy Conference and Exhibition. It is reported that this award is used to honor those industrial manufacturers that have made outstanding contributions to energy conservation.

Detroit Diesel recently stated that it will invest USD 194 million in Radford Engine Manufacturing Center to expand its existing business. The project will start in July 10 and end in September 11th. It is reported that Detroit Diesel Engine Co., Ltd. is Daimler's highway medium and heavy-duty diesel engine production plant.
