On August 26, 2008, Michelin China Investment Co., Ltd. handed over its energy-saving XZA2+ Energy tire to Beijing Xianglong Alsek Co., Ltd. in Beijing. This marked the beginning of Michelin's truck tire sales in the Chinese market in 2006. Since then, Michelin has sold over 100,000 green tires, making it a pioneer in sustainable mobility solutions. In 2008, to meet growing demand, Michelin expanded its range of energy-saving tires and introduced complementary products for various vehicle models. As of that time, Michelin was the only tire manufacturer in China's commercial and passenger car tire market offering eco-friendly and fuel-efficient options. This unique position reinforced its leadership in sustainability and innovation. Mr. Ke Situ, Vice President of the Commercial and Passenger Car Tire Market at Michelin (China) Investment Co., Ltd., emphasized the importance of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. He noted that with global energy shortages and increasing environmental concerns, the transportation sector must adapt to remain profitable while supporting green initiatives. "Michelin is the only brand in the Chinese market that offers energy-saving tires for both cars and buses," he said. "These tires not only help users save money on fuel but also contribute significantly to reducing carbon emissions." Mr. Liang Shoujun, Manager of Michelin’s China Marketing Department, confirmed these claims through independent testing. The Ministry of Transport conducted evaluations comparing the XZA2+ Energy tires with standard tires. The results showed that the energy-saving tires improved fuel economy by at least 2% per 100 kilometers. With 100,000 units sold in two years, this translates to saving 24 million liters of fuel and preventing 65,000 tons of CO₂ emissions—equivalent to the annual absorption capacity of 2.6 million trees. The cost structure of the transportation industry highlights the importance of fuel savings. While tires account for about 6% of total costs, fuel makes up 40%. Michelin’s energy-saving tires help reduce fuel consumption significantly. For example, equipping 100 passenger cars with six XZA2+ Energy tires each could save 147,600 liters of fuel over the tire’s lifespan, translating into nearly 915,000 yuan in cost savings—roughly equivalent to 300 free tires. Beijing Xianglong Alsek Co., Ltd.'s General Manager, Wang Bo, praised the low noise and energy efficiency of the XZA2+ Energy tires. The special carcass design enhances retreadability, extending tire life and reducing overall costs. This ensures long-term economic benefits for the company. Launched in 2006, the XZA2+ Energy tire was designed for highways, luxury cars, and trucks. It quickly gained popularity, selling 100,000 units within two years. Today, Michelin continues to innovate, with research projects aiming to cut rolling resistance even further. By 2028, the company expects to reduce fuel consumption by up to 20%, making its green tires even more impactful in the Chinese market. **Michelin Bus Coach Green Tire Product Introduction** The XZA 2+ ENERGY all-season radial tire, launched in 2006, is suitable for highways, luxury vehicles, and trucks.
