LANXESS Helps China's Rubber Industry Develop in Innovation

China's largest and most influential rubber industry event 2015 China Rubber Annual Conference was held on April 7-10, 2015 at Guangzhou Baiyun International Conference Center. Innovative, green, sustainable solutions

The LANXESS experts introduced the easy-to-process tantalum butadiene rubber, environmentally friendly rubber additives and EPDM catalyst technology innovation and product development at the forum. Among them, LANXESS developed the easy-to-process tantalum cis-butadiene brand, which has the best optimization of processability and dynamic performance through molecular structure adjustment (branching) and chemical modification. This new class of products overcomes the difficult problem of the standard phthalocyanine-butadiene brand that is difficult to process under excellent dynamic performance. Whether it is a carbon black compound system for high-performance tires or a white carbon compound system, this unique advantage is fully reflected.

LANXESS EPDM Catalyst Technology Keltan ACE uses an exceptionally active catalyst to produce a wide range of reliable, high quality EPM and EPDM grades, including ENB grades for rapid vulcanization and excellent elastic properties (oil-filled) ultra-high molecular weight grade. These products are durable, chlorine-free and have high purity. In addition, this process consumes less energy and does not generate spent catalyst, thus eliminating the catalyst cleaning process.

Rubber accelerators DPG, ETU, DTDM, TMTD and other nitrosamine-containing rubber auxiliaries endanger the environment and human health. LANXESS has developed a range of environmentally friendly additives including Rhenogran MTT-80, a new neoprene vulcanization system, Rhenogran CLD-80, a sulfur donor that does not contain nitrosamines, and Vulcuren, which replaces DPG for silica formulations.

High-performance rubber raw material achievement green tire

The China Rubber Industry Association issued a "Guide for the recommendation of green tire raw materials" at the forum. The "Guide" is one of the important contents of the "Green Tire Technical Specification" self-discipline standard that was issued in 2014. It introduces the green development trend of environmental protection raw materials, the selection principles and classification instructions of environmental protection raw material selection.

Zhu Hong, director of the Technical and Economic Committee of the China Rubber Industry Association, said: "At present, the development of the tire industry has been closely integrated with resources, environment, and energy issues. Green tires have become a long-term strategy for tire development. The "Guide" serves as a guide for the production of green tires. The principle of selecting raw materials will help promote the industrialization of green tires and the green production of environmentally friendly raw materials, and accelerate the upgrading of tire products, so as to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction as well as environmental protection of automobiles."

LANXESS is actively working closely with downstream tire manufacturers to actively explore the development of innovative raw materials for green tires based on the needs of customers and markets, and help tire manufacturers to promote the performance of green tires. During the China Rubber Annual Conference, LANXESS also introduced its high-performance butyl rubber, solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber and tantalum-based butadiene rubber products, which are mainly used in the tire industry to provide comprehensive solutions for the global tire industry. Wang Baixia, Director of Product Technology Research Department of China Automotive Technology and Research Center, shared the "China's Green Tire Development Research Report" jointly issued by the center and LANXESS. Under the increasingly accepted environment, it is expected that the green rate of overall tire production in 2015 will exceed 20%, and by 2020, this figure will reach more than 60%.
