Bridgestone U.S. Plant Expands Daily Production Capacity by 13,000 Units

Bridgestone Americas has announced that it has completed the expansion of its tire plant in Aiken County, South Carolina, USA. This expansion project has greatly increased the tire production capacity of the plant, and also created approximately 300 full-time jobs.

Bridgestone originally announced in July 2011 that it would invest 135 million U.S. dollars in the expansion of the Aiken County plant and plan to increase its tire production capacity by 4,750; the company then announced in September of that year that it would add an additional 211 million. With the investment in U.S. dollars, the factory's production capacity has been increased by 8,000 articles per day.

The total amount of the two investments amounted to US$346 million. The area of the Aiken County factory area after the expansion reached 2.42 million square feet, an increase of 740,000 square feet over the previous area. The tire production capacity of the plant was also expanded to 37,750 pieces/day. About 13.4 million/year.

Bridgestone said that the expansion of the Aiken County plant is to meet the increasing demand in key market segments, such as ultra-high performance tires and the light truck/SUV tire market. By adding new production equipment, the versatility of Aiken County's factories has been further enhanced, and changes can be made more flexibly and quickly in the face of changes in market demand.
