On Tuesday afternoon, January 5, 2021, Buffalo Grove police and firefighters responded to a reported house fire at 134 Golfview Terrace. When officers arrived first, they saw flames coming through the roof of the home. Based on the initial report, Buffalo Grove Battalion 4 upgraded the alarm to a Code 4 working fire. The smoke was visible from more than a mile away, drawing attention from nearby residents.
Tower Ladder 25 was the first fire company to arrive, followed by Arlington Heights Engine 4. Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line to the rear of the house, effectively controlling the exterior flames. A second line was then brought inside to tackle the fire from within. As more units arrived, two additional hand lines were pulled, and the remaining fire was extinguished.
The scene was captured in several photos, including one showing the Ferrara Inferno tower ladder in action and another highlighting the thick smoke and flames rising from the structure. These images were taken by Larry Shapiro.
Several fire departments and emergency services responded to the call, including Buffalo Grove Tower 25, Engine 27, Ambulance 25, Battalion 4, 408, 401, MobileCom, and Squad 25. Additional units from outside the area also arrived, such as Arlington Heights Engine 4 and Battalion 1, Rolling Meadows Quint 15, Palatine Engine 82, Prospect Heights Engine 9, Long Grove Tanker 55, Long Grove Battalion 55, a Barrington ambulance and chief, Libertyville Squad 462, along with ambulances from Lake Forest and Nunda Rural FPD.
Despite the intensity of the fire, no injuries were reported, and the cause is currently under investigation. The community remains grateful for the quick response and professionalism of the first responders.
