On Tuesday, January 5th, 2021, the Buffalo Grove Police and Fire Departments responded to a reported house fire at 134 Golfview Terrace. Police officers arrived first and observed flames visible through the roof of the structure. Based on the initial assessment, Buffalo Grove Battalion 4 upgraded the alarm to a Code 4 working fire. The smoke was so thick that it was visible from at least a mile away.
Tower Ladder 25 was the first fire company to arrive, followed shortly by Arlington Heights Engine 4. Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line to the rear of the home and were able to suppress the exterior flames. A second line was then taken inside to tackle the fire from within.
As more units arrived, two additional hand lines were brought in, and the remaining fire was successfully extinguished. The operation involved a coordinated effort between multiple departments, with units such as Buffalo Grove Tower 25, Engine 27, Ambulance 25, Battalion 4, 408, 401, MobileCom, and Squad 25 all responding.
Out-of-town assistance came from Arlington Heights Engine 4 and Battalion 1, Rolling Meadows Quint 15, Palatine Engine 82, Prospect Heights Engine 9, Long Grove Tanker 55 and Battalion 55, a Barrington ambulance and chief, Libertyville Squad 462, and ambulances from Lake Forest and Nunda Rural FPD.
