Fire Rescue International 2013 – local highlights

At the Fire Rescue International trade show held at McCormick Place, visitors had the opportunity to see a variety of local fire departments' units on display. These images capture some of the standout vehicles and equipment showcased by different departments. One of the highlights was the new AEV ambulance for Bloomingdale, featured in a photo by Larry Shapiro. Another notable unit was the Leyden Township ambulance built by Wheeled Coach, also captured by Shapiro. A second image of the same ambulance provides additional perspective. The River Forest Fire Department displayed a quint, photographed by Josh Boyajian, and a newly delivered Smeal quint was also on view, with a photo by Larry Shapiro. Franklin Park's engine was seen in the Marion booth, as captured by Shapiro. Alsip Fire Department's Car 2000 was photographed by Josh Boyajian, while Joliet Engine 8 was also on display, taken by Larry Shapiro. Aurora Fire Department showed off Engine 9, with two photos from both Josh Boyajian and Larry Shapiro, highlighting its significance as the third new engine for the department. Crestwood Fire Department's Ford Expedition was photographed by Shapiro, and the Chicago Fire Department presented several units, including the Turret Wagon 6-7-3 Deluge Wagon and the Comm Van 2-7-8 from O’Hare, both captured by Boyajian. Gary Fire Department showcased two HME quints, one photographed by Shapiro and another by Boyajian, emphasizing their investment in modern firefighting equipment. These images offer a glimpse into the latest advancements in fire rescue technology and the dedication of local departments to public safety.
