East Joliet FPD donates fire engine to the Pink Heals Joliet Area Chapter

Today was an incredible day! We've been keeping a big (fire truck-sized) secret for a while, and it's finally time to share it. Today, we officially dedicated our 3rd Pink Fire Truck — and 4th vehicle for the Joliet Area Chapter of Pink Heals — in honor of our amazing friend, Michelle Darguzis. She’s someone we love deeply, and she's been a true pillar of support for our chapter from the very beginning.

Michele has gone above and beyond for us. She organized heartwarming visits for people facing breast cancer, created the fun “On the Hunt for Pink Trucks” scavenger hunt, and even spoke at our Mother’s Day Walk. She's always there, cheering us on at every event. Today, we were able to say thank you in the most special way possible — by naming our new fire truck after her. What a surprise! We’re all so excited to welcome "Michelle" into our family.

Our Events Director, Debbie Trimmer, put it perfectly: “Today was the best day of 2020!”

This amazing truck and today’s celebration wouldn’t have been possible without some incredible people. First, a huge thank you to East Joliet Fire Department! Four years ago, they voted to donate one of their retired trucks to Pink Heals. Since then, Fire Chief Scholtes passed away, but his legacy lives on — we now carry his name with a beautiful plaque in his honor. Thank you, East Joliet Fire, for your generosity and support.

Next, a massive thank you to All American Recycling. Last fall, they reached out to help us get this third truck up and running. They’ve supported us through our annual Mother’s Day Walk and Save the Cans fundraisers. We are incredibly grateful for everything they’ve done for our cause. Thank you, AAR!

And a huge shoutout to MO-GRAPHICS in New Lenox. AAR connected us, and MO-GRAPHICS generously wrapped our new truck. She looks absolutely stunning, and we're so thankful for their incredible work. Thank you, MO-GRAPHICS!
