Alps Electric develops a new line of miniature pump valves

Alps Electric has developed a series of new fuel cell system micropumps and microvalves. Alps has begun to enter the new energy market through the development of pumps and valves, as pumps and valves are essential aids for controlling and operating the fuel inside the fuel cell system, such as methanol. Alps has optimized its holistic design through structural design processes, such as simulation analysis in addition to control functions. These characteristics and high-precision processing techniques contribute to the miniaturization of the product.


The micropump has a diameter of only 6.0 mm and a length of 24.0 mm; the microvalve has a diameter of only 3.5 mm and a length of 10.3 mm (including the nozzle). Although these products are small, they can be guaranteed to be highly functional by integrated flow rate and simulation analysis of structures and magnetic fields. This development has undoubtedly contributed a lot to its miniaturization, and miniaturization is an indispensable prerequisite for portable batteries.

Through membrane operation design, valve backflow design, and optimization of materials and planning, Alps has been able to effectively control large flows in a small valve chassis. Moreover, this product requires only a small voltage electromagnetic drive system, which makes a small contribution to simple control and fuel cell system engineering.
