More from Danny Nelms about the former Peotone FPD unit now up for sale:
A post shared on the Society for the Preservation and Appreciation of Antique Motor Fire Apparatus of America (SPAAMFAA) provided some interesting background on this unique piece of fire apparatus history:
Originally based in Ardmore, Pennsylvania;ÂALF 700 tda, Huber Heights, Ohio. 1984 Pierce Arrow retractor/refurb, Job # F1271.ÂIn 1995, the tractor was upgraded with an Ideal Beverage body and underwent a full refurbishment. It was later refurbed again in 2000 by RPI and eventually sold to Peotone, Illinois.ÂBefore its current owner, the unit was used by a company called Qualified Spill Response, which went out of business. It’s likely that the current owner acquired it during the company's liquidation.ÂTwo apron shots by Joel D. Bain;ÂTiller action shot and side profile by Garrett Buttelwerth;ÂLast photo of ALF 700 from the William Schreiber collection;ÂAll images were taken during the unit’s time in Huber Heights, Ohio.

This unit has a rich history and is a great example of how fire apparatus can be repurposed over the years. If you're a collector or just a fan of vintage fire trucks, this could be a rare find. Let us know if you've seen anything like this before!
