"Aerosol extinction spectrometer development" project passed the acceptance in Beijing

The project leader Zhao Weixiong, researcher at the Hefei Institute of Material Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences, introduced a aerosol extinction spectrometer based on broadband cavity enhanced absorption spectroscopy technology to realize real-time and in-situ measurement of extinction spectra, and to measure techniques and methods. Conducted research, established a laboratory calibration method, and completed the established research content of the project. Among them, the instrument technical indicators meet the project's expected assessment requirements, and the instrument sensitivity and detection accuracy are better than the project setting goals.
The aerosol extinction spectrometer adopts the broadband cavity enhanced spectrum measurement technology, which effectively solves the problem of the influence of gas absorption on the extinction coefficient measurement when the existing single wavelength instrument is measured. At present, the project team conducted comprehensive field observations of the instrument and other similar equipment developed in the Yangtze River Delta region (Hefei) and the Pearl River Delta region (Guangzhou).
In terms of application of results, from 2014 to 2015, the project team successfully applied the prototype to APEC Air Quality Assurance and the Chinese Academy of Sciences “Pilot 2014” in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region ash comprehensive field experiment, and found that black carbon is the main controlling factor of pollution. One; from 2016 to 2017, the instrument achieved continuous observation for 10 months in the Shouxian National Climate Observatory, with good performance.
It is reported that the instrument is convenient for field observation and industrial application promotion, and will improve the accuracy and reliability of station observation data measurement. The research and development of instruments not only generates important social benefits in business observation and scientific research, but also further promotes the localization of meteorological observation instruments and generates greater economic benefits. In the future, the project team will further strengthen the station promotion and improve the operational level of aerosol optical characteristics in China.
